Has anyone used Meet the Masters? http://www.meetthemasters.com/index.html It looks like a great way to do picture study, artist study, and art all in one. If you’ve used it did you like it? What level would you recommend for a young 9 year old and 5 year old?
Wow… I havent seen this. It looks like a great program. We purchased the Discovering Great Artists by <aryAnn Kohl, along with the postcards or art cards from dover publications. The book is similar to the program Meet The Masters, I just dont know if it is as thorough? It shows you the same techniques that the artists used in their artwork, and gives you some history/facts about the artist. The postcards we are using for picture study. They are little minature replicas!!
Anyhow, I would love to hear more on the program myself.. the website was great! And $30 doesnt seem to bad especially if you have all your info in one spot!
I thought I’d resurrect this thread and get a review on both of these. When I was in elem. school my art teacher used a magazine to teach about the artist, and then we recreated our own artwork in the style of the artist. That is what I love about both of these programs suggested here.
Can either of you, or anyone else, give a review for them? It looks like Meet the Masters uses only paper and crayons but has several piece of artwork the child can study over the course of several weeks while Discovering Great Artists uses different mediums but needs art cards or posters to supplement. Perhaps the two could be used together?
