I am brand new to CM methods. My question is I am setting up our daily schedule, I am looking at all the books recomended for Matthew through Acts & Ancient Rome, there is 13. Are we to read all of these in the years time, also doing the visits to Europe Notebook and the selected books for it as well?  Since we are new to CM methods, and all the reading that is involved, how much is recommended to read each day for this class to be able to get through these books on time?

    Thanks,

    Lisa

We just completed the first five days of SCM Ancient Rome and have done two other years of SCM history. You are always welcome to pick and choose which books to use, but yes, all the books listed are scheduled out into manageable chunks. I don’t know the ages of your children I do not have high schoolers so we don’t do the books for the older ones, but I believe you would assign your older ones to read theirs independantly. The first two days were bible, the third was geography using the visits to book and the last two days were history. The longest days were history, but I’d say that took thirty mins or less. I hope that helps.

Did you download the sample of the guude? It is avery nice size and you can get an idea of how the books are scheduled.

Also, not all of these books will be read cover to cover.  Some will, but books like Material World and Hungry Planet will only be used in part.
