@ amama5, Thanks for the tip. I did look at a few sites that sell used items, but I am sort of picky. I don’t really want to buy something used without really being able to see it. I say “hefty,” but other than a primary writing tablet, Primer is the only school item I will purchase for my son this year. We get most of our books from the library, so even for my daughter I really didn’t have to purchase much more than math, art supplies, and a few items for History Module 2. I still spent less for one year for 2 children than I would for one month for one child at the local private school!
Also, I think the ease of the Primer lessons will provide a solid transition for my son to begin lessons. As artcmomto3 mentioned, if it is not working, I do not have a problem putting it on hold. I did not have a solid plan for my first child in Kindergarten and found that I was swayed from one extreme to the other. I feel much more confident trusting my decisions this time around! (and to note: I have a BS in Early Childhood Education, spent extensive time teacher training in Kindergarten, taught 2nd grade in public schools, 4th grade language arts in private school….. You would think I wouldn’t second guess myself so much!! Teaching my own children is a whole ‘nother ballgame than teaching a classroom full of other people’s children!)
