Does anyone have a Life of Fred alternative they can suggest?  We are nearing the end of Apples and my son has been responding very well to the story format.  I’d love to be able to buy the next one in the series, but the price is a real issue.

    Thanks!

have you considered that you could probably resell them easily????

I find LOF kind of expensive too, considering how quickly you go through them, but since I have 4 children and they are non-consumable I thought it was a good investment. Even if you have only one child, I think the resale value is terrific for them. You could sell the first before buying the second if you don’t plan on using it again.

Thank you for the ideas.  I didn’t think of selling them before purchasing the next in line!  I’m going to start a new thread about Ray’s Arithmetic and Strayer-Upton.  I’m wondering if these might be good, yet admittedly un-silly alternatives.

    Thanks again!

We use Math Mammoth on cd for dd7 and have been pleased. Their downloads are the least expensive option, I think.

Heather, are you in GA (I thought I remembered that from a while back)? I know the library has the upper level LOF books (I have checked them out before), they may have the elementary ones too, you could check that….

@mjemom, yes I am in Georgia!  Good memory!Wink  I checked the pines system today and unfortunately they don’t have any elementary books.  Thank you for the suggestion!

LoF is quite reasonable especially being a hard-backed, non-consumable program that can easily be resold.

We love LOF.  I worried about the costs for a whle too, but broke down and bought the whole set this summer.  It’s well worth if you figure on how long you’ll have it and the resale value.  We alternate between MM and LOF and real life.  I worry constantly that we aren’t doing Math right?!?! Tongue out

If you do some searching and put it out there that you are looking for LOF used, you can probably get a good price. I did! And then you would most cerainly get all of your money back when you go to resell! Good luck!
