I have searched and searched, but can’t find the thread that explains HOW you guys did the math facts review with Sonya at the Jacksonville seminar. Can anyone here either explain it to me or share the link for that thread if you have it? I found this thread:
…but this link is mainly is about a chart, not about how it’s used. Feeling a little confused about the actual implementation (actually, I’d love a video demonstration! lol). Thanks so much!
My older kids already knew their facts but I will be implementing division with ds9 in January and add/sub with dd6 in January. It would not have been enough for dd12. Nothing except rapid recall worked for her. It likely would have been enough for da9 and I expect definitely for dd6.
So… for those who do this, would you just do, say, one fact family a day, 5 days a week — perhaps as an extension or part of other memory work? Would there be any value to doing all four operations or just focus on multiplication/division?
We do fact review daily on our chalkboard. I pick a number and do addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts for that number. Both kids know all addition and subtraction facts. Dd listens along as ds does his multiplication facts. It takes us maybe 5 minutes daily.
Do you all feel they are really learning the math facts when you have them do them in order, such as 2+1=, 2+2=, 2+3=? I felt that my son was just learning the answers in order and not the real facts. Do you have them say the facts this way or do you mix them up, as in 2+1=, 2+5=, 2+3=?
