I was all set to use Masterbooks this fall with my kids. It claims a CM bent and I love their Biblical focus.
I was going to do America’s Story 1 with 3rd grader, World’s Story 1 with 6th grader, and America’s Story 3 with my 8th grader (with some lit books thrown in). We already have their Stobaugh American History for my 10th grader.

However, I have Notgrass Uncle Sam that the two middle girls (6th and 8th) could do. I am afraid it will be too “dry” though?
Also, Notgrass just released preview of their new American History for 1st-4th graders. It looks so pretty. Colorful.

Now I’m all discombobulated and unsure of myself! I have time, because I don’t have nearly enough funds saved up yet, but I am conflicted!

What are your thoughts considering the two?

And then there’s always the Gen to Deut or Modern that I own. Sigh. 😛

You know what, now I can’t edit or delete my post. lol But I think I have answered my own question. So just ignore me unless the Holy Spirit has a good word for you to give me 😀

Just a suggestion to combine as much as you can for history. So, perhaps a family “spine” and some living books with other things individually assigned. 😉

What did you decide? This is my exact dilemma. It looks like Notgrass just has the one elementary American History out right? I don’t know what we’d do after that, we have a 1st and 3rd grader.

I am planning to use the Notgrass America the Beautiful as a spine for my 4th and 7th graders, but we were going to stretch it over two years and add in lots of living books. You might be able to do that with the elementary one then move into the middle school Adam to Us. If you read aloud and go slower there would be plenty of time for extra books. Just an idea. Of course my suspicion is that Notgrass will come out with an elementary world as well, maybe just in time for you.

Yes I was hoping they’d come out with something else, that’s a great plan!
