I was wondering how mnay of you r4ead Magic Treehouse? Ok, well…how about your kids? =)I have come across a brand new set with 32 books for 49.99, which would be 1.56. I know 106 days of creation uses Footprints on the Moon, but would you say there is value in the set? Thank you for your thoughts!!
I’m just sure I saw these books at our library. There was stuff in them that was unacceptable to me – evolution, ghosts, that sort of thing. If I am wrong and it’s not this set, I apologize profusely!! 🙂 Perhaps you could look at them at your library.
I don’t know that I would buy a whole set, but my ds7 absolutely LOVES the books. I’ve only actually read one, Mummies in the Morning. It wasn’t my cup of tea, but he loves ’em!!
christina – I had a really cool resource for these books. I
think it came from the Magic Tree house site or Scholastic (isn’t that the publisher?) – anyway it was like a passport that you printed and cut out and stapled together. As the child finished the books they could earn stamps (also printed and cut out) to put in their passport. This is totally the sort of thing my daughter loves, and your kids might like this too, so I mention it in case you want to use it.
After making the passport and reading the first book, she never wanted another. Oh well, it was fine with me.
An alternative to the Magic Treehouse series is Adventures in Odyssey’s Imagination Station series. Similar concept – going back in time to witness historical places and events but presented from a Christian worldview.
My kids have read them, but usually they read a few and move onto other books. I would also stick with the library or just buy a few…Half Price Books usually has them for $2.
