I see many of you are Mac users (as are we).  I’ve been searching for a meal planning/shopping list maker for the MAC that is easy to use.  I purchased one 1 1/2 years ago and I never could figure it out.  It was called The Recipe Mangager.  Are there any good ones out there.  If they would link to my iPhone that would be even better.

Sorry, no help here, but I would love to hear about one also since we are a Mac family too.Smile

I use Yummy Soup – they are planning on some great upgrades soon, I like it alot. I don’t have but a second, but if you have any questions let me know! read on their website and on the forums there to learn all the features, it’s pretty neat. You can import recipes from any website very easily. You can create grocery lists from your recipes. In the next version (when he finishes it) there is supposed to be a cookbook feature where you can create your own cookbook.

Ok, y’all are a bad influence on me!!  LOL  I spent time this morning downloading Yummy Soup, Delicious Library, AND MacTree5!  No wonder I was wondering what all the fuss about Macs was–I hadn’t found the cool tools!!  Thanks for opening my eyes!

A while back we tried every Mac recipe software we could find. We narrowed it down to MacGourmet for our use. Although, I seem to recall Yummy Soup being high on the list too.

MacGourmet has an optional meal planning module, does shopping lists, and syncs with the companion iPhone/iPod Touch application. We really like how easy it is to import recipes from Web sites by just dragging in the URL from your browser. It figures everything out and even brings in the picture if there is one. We also like how it can easily e-mail a recipe. And there’s a mode called “Chef View” that uses really large print so you can see it across the room.

They describe it as iTunes for recipes, which is probably a pretty good description.

You guys are really getting my curiosity worked up!  I’m wondering if any of you were once ‘paper and pencil’ die hards that have converted successfully to these high tech ways.  I’ve tried calendars on my computer, grocery lists, menus etc. using applications on our pc and I always end up aborting and going back to pencil/paper.  Our oldest recently purchased her own Mac and raves about it, but I’m wondering if I’m just stuck in my ways or if these applications are just that superior to a pc that I would stick with them.  Any thoughts from all you progressive people?  Wink

I made the switch from paper and pencil about 12 years ago.  My husband wrote me a program that I used successfully but when my computer died about 1 1/2 years ago the program died with it.  He hasn’t had time to write another one.  Meal planning for the month used to take 15 minutes (tops) on the computer.  It now takes me close to 3 hours.  I’ve been spoiled.  I used to just pick my meals and the extra things we needed and print out my shopping list.

    mj,

Yes, up until just this last year, I was a paper & pencil list maker!  I had an organizer binder that I kept with me everywhere.  I am not very computer savvy and I transitioned just fine and am loving all the things I am learning- though it is a slow process.  Wink  I use my iPhone & our Mac laptop for everything now!

    Blessings,

    Danielle
