  • The Uncle Eric books by Bluestocking Press are quite the eye openers for history, government and founding principals of the U.S. We are only in Anciet Rome How it Effects You Today and we are riveted! Great questions in the study guides too.

What ages are you using these with? Do they feel too young or too advanced for any of your kids? Anyone else have any age guidelines from personal experience?

    Thx,

Thanks for posting this, I would love to hear about the Uncle Eric books as well! Are they for younger children, or do they have some for middle/high school aged children?

These were discussed before and generally start at 7th grade. I plan to use some of them.

We are using these as a big part of our World History Part 2 for 10th grade, mixed with some biographies and other historical books, starting with ancient Rome and going through to WWII. We have been having some wonderful conversations and amazing revelations about history and our governement today. I love the additional book suggestions, the study guide questions and opportunity for writing and discussion.

The chapters are short, but meaty if you really delve into them. Definitely not too young if you use them to their potential. IMHO

Also incorporating The Heritage Foundatons books, Understanding America series. They are just short books, but again packed with great founding ideals and quotes from historical figures. Great rubber meets the road for application of the principles in the Uncle Eric books.
