I just wanted to put in a plug for the Scripture Box app that is based on SCM’s Scripture Memory System. I love this system but the cards about drove me crazy. I usually stay away from most technology but this has been a God-send. It automatically sorts our verses based on the criteria I set. It even has sets of verses, creeds, SCM’s verse packs, etc. preloaded that you can select of you choose. You can even tell it to email the verses of the day to you! So easy to use. It’s called an app but you have to have internet to use it online. We have wifi at home so I use it on my iPad.
You can try it for 30 days free. After that it is $4.99 a year and worth every penny. (Not getting anything for saying it, either.). 🙂
Thanks for sharing this! Kids have been wanting to do more and more independendtly so this might be a great fit:) We also memorize English from Roots Up cards and a bit of poetry/history. I’m assuming this wouldn’t be difficult to add in, too? Thanks! Gina
We use it and like it too. I wish I could have multiple accounts tied together and add everything to one and choose whose box it goes into bc my kids aren’t always memorizing the same things. However I still love it!
Hi All – thank you for the positive words about the app. In follow-up to missceegee’s comment, I am currently working on multi-box functionality. This will alllow you to create multiple boxes (each with its own set of verses and rotation) under one account. For example, you could have one box for each of your children. My goal is to have this done by the end of March.
@TailorMade – yes, you can add word roots or really whatever you’d like. Currently, the app contains an “Other” category with which you can associate texts besides Bible verses. But my to-do list includes expanding this so that you will be able to create additional categories for your texts (e.g. Poems, Word Roots, Hymns, etc….whatever categories you’d like). That will likely be in the next release after the mult-box functionality is implemented.
I love it too and I just keep the tab open in google so that I remember to do it! LOL It stays right next to my always open tab of SCM forum and Organizer.
@momto2blessings, the easiest thing might be to have each day’s verses sent to the email addresses of your children so that they can review right from in their inbox. But if you’d rather have them log in separately using their own accouts, I can set them up and link them to your primary account so they won’t have to pay a separate fee. I hope that helps!
I just want to add my appreciation for Scripture Box and for Tim’s efforts to make it work well for different people. We have been using it just as Tim mentioned in his last post. We have 3 separate accounts, but they are linked so that we only paid one fee. Each morning my two children and I each get an email with our own verses for the day. The enables each of us to practice at our own pace, with no extra effort other than to copy and paste the verses into each person’s list. I’m looking forward to seeing how the new multi-box set up works.
Joanne, could you share how you have 3 accounts linked? I don’t see that option and it would seem from Tim’s response above that that isn’t possible as of yet. Maybe I’m missing something.
