I have twin first graders, and will be starting the Genesis -deut./ancient Egypt study in Jan. They only have toddler bibles now and we are wanting to get them new ones for Christmas, looking for suggestions on which one to get for them that they can use now and also grow with a bit.
I like to read from the Egermeier Storybook Bible with my DS6. The readings are a good length and have enough details to be interesting and informative. Well written for children. The ‘sensitive’ readings are handled well.
You can find it on Amazon, with a large portion to preview.
I also like the Jesus Storybook Bible, although it doesn’t cover as much of the Bible, it is wonderful for bringing every event back to Jesus.
Do you plan to buy the same Bible for each child, or have two different versions to share?
As for the history you’ll be starting in January – we are working our way through it for first grade as well, and I have been reading from the The Child’s Story Bible by Catherine Vos. What a delightful resource! My daughter really connects with the way the Bible readings are presented. I will continue to read from it until we finish this history guide, even once my daughter has a Bible of her own!
