    Hi,

I am in search of two more things to complete our plans for the year.  One thing I am looking for is a personal finance course for my 17 year old daughter.  I am looking for one that shows how to balance a check book, write checks etc.  I am not interested in the Dave Ramsey course, however.

The other thing I am looking for is a basic logic course that could be used with both my 17 year old daughter and 14 year old sons.  I would like to do discussions together for this.  The 17 year old went through about 1/2 of the older book of Fallacy Detective a few years back and the 14 year old sons have done nothing.  It would be great if there was something that included some discussion work.  Anything like  this exist?  Oh yeah, it has to be easily implemented by me as it is too close to beginning of the year to wade through long explanations and prep work.

THANK YOU FOR ANY AND ALL COMMENTS AND ADVICE OR LEADS!!

    HAPPY HOMESCHOOLING

The Art of Argument is the only thing that comes to my mind right now (it’s early;) for logic.

And, we used Money Matters by Larry Burkett for Personal Finances. Chapters 3 and 4 are about checking accounts.

    For logic:

Informal (identifying fallacies)- 1 Semester ( if he is a senior) or 1 year of Art of Argument

Formal (deductive): 1 semester or 1 year of Discovery of Deduction

Each of these is .5 credit

MUS has a course on Stewardship.  I plan on covering it for 11th or 12th grade.

We’ll be using Memoria Press’s logic program.  I’m not sure how much discussion it includes, but I find their materials very easy to teach from.
