I would like to take advantage of the warmer months to teach about plants. Does anyone have any favorite living books for this topic?

Besides Exploring Creation through Botany as a main source, other complemetary living books would be those by Margaret Morley; “Seed Babies” , then “Little Wanderers” . We’re in Seed Babies, now; it’s delightful!
Also, reading through “Parables from Nature”, too. Wonderful stories and characters.
Lastly, “Plant life in Field and Garden” by Anabella Buckley (part of a series) for your older ones. All of these here: http://www.yesterdaysclassics.com/catalog/displaycatalog.php?catalog=nature
Although I haven’t gotten it yet (it will be in the next month or so), “Outdoor Secrets” seems to delight many here from SCm. It encompasses more than just plants.
Also, don’t forget your Creation Journals and Field Guides for WildFlowers and such things.

Seems like Sonya just posted living science books that were added to Bookfinder… You might check there. I have shelves in my library. I can post some in the next day or so. The Burgess Flower Book for Children is wonderful. Millicent Selsam has some good ones.

Yes, I was going to suggest a Millicent Selsam book, too, called Seeds and More Seeds. We just finished reading this simple, yet interesting book and really enjoyed it. It’s the story of a boy who wants to know what types of things will grow and how they will grow. He plants seeds and more seeds, and along the way learns quite a bit with his father’s gentle encouragement. It is part of the Science I Can Read book series, so it can also be used for reading practice for the 1st-2nd grader.
