@LDI mom, you simply sign up for a free account at box.com. Easy peasy. I have all sorts of files there and it makes for easy sharing.

Cool, thanks! I tried to go to it earlier and didn’t ge to that site. Now I see it. Not sure what I typed in LOL! I need to go and sign up! Definitely easier than sending individual emails/PMs. Thanks again!

    Jen,

What’s worked for me is a simple typed sheet that lists each day and the subjects to be done. It’s kept in a clear protective sheet that I can take out and tweak if needed. This sheet is placed in the child’s basket, along with the books they need for the assignments.

Example of Independent Work List for dd8:

    Monday:

    1. Math U See – one lesson

    2. Science – read one chapter/ narrate

    3. Math facts drill

    4. Piano practice

    6. Copywork- one page

    7. Study Spelling Wisdom

Then the rest of sheet lists other days the same way, but the subjects vary. I have “return work folders” for each child to place their completed assignments and I check these during their guide time with me. They also narrate during that time too if they haven’t already.

This has been very effective and super easy. HTH!

Thanks to missceegee, I now have a Box.com account. I think I have two of our sample schedules downloaded there.

While I was hoping to be at church this AM, life took a turn. DD, 6, woke up sick and vomiting. She is asleep now, so I figured I’d make use of the time.

    Let’s try this.

The first is our Year-at-a-Glance, which I make one for each student. It lists all of our books (both family and assigned independent reading), each major subject (and the books assigned) as well as electives. It has been very helpful to have this past year, and give us all a snapshot of what we do. As a book is completed, the children check it off.

I color code these for our children’s notebooks (as each of our children has a family color :). I have white copies in my notebook under each child’s divider tab (along with our weekly and daily schedules).

Now, here is a link to a Weekly Schedule, but I have not updated it for this year yet other than to change date at the top. This is the one I was saying we date as we go. I am planning to add a bit more specifics to some subjects such as science and language (to keep people on track and accountable). 🙂

I also make one specific to each child and color code for their notebooks. I do NOT lamintate this. I did that year 2010-2011, but did not do such a great job in record-keeping. I decided to use these on paper and that is our main record of what is done each day. Each child has about 40 of these at year’s end (I use front and back), but that is not too bad to keep up with all things considered.

I buy my colored paper at Sam’s and one $15 ream lasts me about 18 months. I just use white paper for my master copy of this schedule.

I have only made these for our oldest three. I use a 9-pocket page protector for our next younger two. I will post on that in a separate post for those who might be interested. Here is the link to the Weekly Schedule.
