If you haven’t read Richard Haliburton’s Complete Book of Marvels, I’d heartily recommend that. One of our all-time favorites. There’s another one of his…Conquering New Worlds?? Not sure without checking my bookshelf. He actually has a number of books, but quite a few may contain passages that are a little risque.
Hungry Planet and Material World by Peter Menzel are very good also. We like to read about the families if their country is part of our map studies. It gives us a personal connection with the countries to read about normal families of today.
We’ve enjoyed various missionary biographies for geography. They also love the Voice of the Martyrs kid’s books…we just read them from the computer. http://www.kidsofcourage.com/?page_id=166
