…like dominoes or war (card game).  I know there must be many more but I’m drawing a blank on this right now.  Dd is 6 so any games that reinforce math/number patterning, sequence, basic adding, etc would be great.

    Thanks,

We have a few dice. Take two and roll a “target” number. Take two or three roll them to get to that target number by adding and subtracting the dice. You may have to write this out for a 6 yr old. As they get older, we add/subtract/multiply to get to the target number. Of course, you won’t get to the exact number most of the time but you can get close.

Also, playing math bingo is fun! Print out a bingo card w/ numbers and roll the dice. Again add/subtract…play bingo. We tend to use confetti that goes w/ the seasons to cover up spaces…that makes it fun too! Of course the confetti are fairly big..we have some pretty foil leafs!

A couple of games to buy are Sum Swamp…great game!! And Math Mat..this one is pricey but it can last for yrs w/ adding/ subtracting

HTH..if I think of more I will let you know 🙂

We’re in this phase at our house, too. We play Yahtzee (patterns, basic addition, introduction to the concept of multiplication) and let DD tabulate/record her own score for each turn. (We add the total score.)

We also play Qwirkle. There’s basic addition and patterns in that game, too. And depending where he is with reading, there’s Scrabble, which allows for both practice with both spelling and basic addition.
