I am on the hunt for a children’s Bible like Catherine Vos’ but with illustrations to keep the attention of my 3 y/o. I know some love the Jesus Storybook Bible, but I want something with more mature illustrations and still have solid retelling of the Bible stories. Any suggestions?
I am not familiar with Catherine Vos’ children’s Bible, but one I really like, with mature illustrations and short, true to text stories is the Family Time Bible in Pictures.
Ours has been read a few times through, and is taped together, but always enthusiastically received. My boys (5&7) pour over the illustrations for hours.
We have been using The Children’s Bible in 365 Stories this year and really enjoying it. We are also fans of the Vos children’s Bible, and it has been a good fit for my younger ones (ages 3 and 4.5) who weren’t quite ready for the Vos Bible yet this year. (My 7 year old likes it too.) The stories are a little shorter than in the Vos and there is a realistic color illustration on each page. It is also a lot more complete than some Bible storybooks – for example, we are currently reading through the section in the OT about all the kings and it has bits about the different prophets blended in in appropriate spots chronologically. http://www.amazon.com/The-Childrens-Bible-365-Stories/dp/0745930689/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369120014&sr=8-1&keywords=The+Children%27s+Bible+in+365+Stories
