My kids have been reading a book they were assigned as part of a CM-inspired curriculum, which was mostly made up of living books. This human body book, however, is an illustrated book with little blurbs around the plarge ictures, sort of DK-style, and it’s very difficult to retain information from, and nearly impossible to narrate. Does anyone have a suggestion for living books focusing on the human body, appropriate for 11-year-olds?
Hey, thanks, Heather, I have it on my science shelf and didn’t even think of it. It is a bit young, but at the same time, has a lot of good info and won’t hurt them to give it a read-through. If nothing else, perhaps it’ll help some of the other info to stick. I’d love to hear any other ideas, keep ’em coming!
Here are the books we used. We particulary enjoyed The Big Book About the Human Body by Joe Kaufman. Here is the original list I made, but wasn’t able to find a lot of them at my library.
I do have the Christian Liberty Nature Reader 5 as well, and just pulled that out today thinking it might augment our studies. It didn’t have the particular information I was looking for, but you’re reminding me how much good stuff it does have in it. And thanks, crazy4myboys, for all those book recommendations. You’re inspiring me to go see what my library has!
Blessings,
Aimee
