I read through the posts in the recent thread, “Beginning Foreign Language in High School,” and there was some good information there.  My 13yo dd wants to begin Spanish, and I found a used Living Language set (audio, student book, dictionary) that is affordable.  I was wondering if anyone has used this for middle school ages, or is it more geared toward high school?

We do have a next door neighbor couple who speak Spanish as their native language, but they are not available to teach lessons on a regular basis.  However, she will be able to practice conversing with them fairly often, especially during the summertime.  That should be very helpful.

    Thanks,

    Sue

AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! (Intense screaming with great joy.)  DANCE, DANCE, DANCE!!!!! (Intense dancing–again, with great joy, if not gracefully.)

I’m so excited to report that I found a source for “Living Language Complete Spanish: the Basics” that is not only affordable–it’s free!  Our county library system has multiple copies of the set (cd’s, coursebook, and dictionary) in at least 3 branches that are less than a 20-minute drive from here.  Yay!  I can try it before I buy it!

I would still be interested to hear anyone’s comments about its suitability for a 13yo.  Thanks.
