My 11yo son is obsessed with wanting to get a patent (probably too much Shark Tank). Does anyone know of a good book that explains this process? He thinks that he can just up and get himself a patent immediately, lol. First world kid living in an Amazon Prime timeframe.

You can look up how to get a patent in the book section of amazon.  😉  Also, consider looking at books about inventors (including picture books) or the kids book So You Want to Be and Inventor? .  That last one probably introduces the basics of patents.  Also the US Patent and Trademark Office has a website for kids that will be very informative.  http://www.uspto.gov/kids

We recently read the book Brainstorm! The Stories of Twenty American Kid Inventors by Tom Tucker – it was great!    The stories will be very inspiring for your son and many spoke about the difficulties they had obtaining patents (as well as the long time it took).  I believe there were resources at the end of the book on finding out more about inventing and patents.  Check your local library, it will probably have this book.   Maybe we’ll see your son on Shark Tank in the future!
