I thought I remember someone saying that they use this site as you are able to interact with native speakers, etc.  How do you like it?  I am wondering because right now Groupon has a discount up for the site – enough so that my girls, who are doing fine with the programs they are using, would be able to supplement what they are doing with this program… if it is a decent site.  6 months is $25, which I thought was pretty good.

I did find a few old threads that mentioned this, but I am not sure if the people who suggested this actually use this or not.  I am really looking for ratings or feedback; it would be greatly appreciated.

I wasn’t terribly impressed with the actual lessons on livemocha—they are OK for vocabulariy but not really all that good for learning the entire language.  We did like the possibilities to interact with others, though, but when we were using the site frequently these features were free.  I was a little nervous about allowing my son to make contact with random German speakers that I really couldn’t vet ahead of time, and I followed pretty closely–he had to translate all messages for me so I could see them.  He’s switched to a real-time online class now, so he rarely uses livemocha anymore.

Thank you, ma’am.  That was one of my concerns as well – unknown persons talking with my dd.  I wasn’t sure if they had bios up on the site that show who is who like a faculty listing, or what.

Would you mind sharing the site that your ds uses now, please?

My son  now uses Mr. G at the currclicklive.com site, but I know that his German classes are ending and his French classes are full–not sure about his Russian ones.  My son takes German from him, but he’s had a hard time keeping enough in the classes for that one to be efficient for him.  I really, really recommend him though!

Thank you!  I hope he will be able to keep the German classes.  Off to find out more.
