I am very interested in what you are doing, because I’ve been thinking of doing the same thing. Are you talking grammar and everything LA in this?
I had thought that the “Any Novel” Novel Study that was discussed a couple weeks ago sounded great for the Lit. parts. I was also looking at Bravewriter Arrows and Boomerangs for dictation passages with lessons with it.
Yeah, that is what I am doing. Here is what I have done so far. I decided what literature I wanted to use based on AO’s and SCM’s literature list. Then I made lists of things like grammar and composition skills that I wanted to cover. I used old textbooks to make sure that I didn’t miss anything. Then I started to write my own units developing assignments pulling the grammar and vocabulary right from the literature. I am also integrating composition and elements of literature into this. I haven’t even got close to finishing. I was hoping someone on here had done this before and had some suggestions.
You know, I remember seeing something online a while back that you could buy that enabled you to do the Language Arts stuff with any book you are reading. I only have a very vague recollection of it and I wonder if anyone else has seen it. It was something along the lines of the Any Novel Study guide, but it was for grammar and usage type things. I think it might have been a mom-created thing on Pinterest. Anyone have any idea what I’m talking about? I sure would like to find it again. It sounds like it might save some of us a lot of work.
I have a few things that are similar to that, but they don’t cover everything. If you happen to find, let me know where. I would love to take a look at it.
Literature is usually separate from grammar at least in the higher grades. But fortunately grammar alone is easy to find. Easy Grammar Analytical Grammar, Growing With Grammar
I wanted a grammar program to intergrate with literature. That was what started me on this endeavor to begin with. Does anyone know of anything like that?
