We are loving the life of fred books but can someone PLEASE tell me the story as to how he became the professer and lost is mom and dad? We are only in 2nd grade so we won’t get to calculus for a long time. But I need to know 🙂

No one is answering, so I am guessing that they all sign an oath to silence when they get to calculus.

We do not use LOF but I read the review from Rainbow Resource. I am not sure how it all plays into the story but beware of the possiblility of a risque storyline in the Calculus book.
Quoting from that review regarding the life story in Calculus:
“The Life of Fred actually begins in the Calculus as serious as it needs to be book (in which Fred is born), the first written (in 2001). Unlike the other volumes, it has all the Your Turn to Play questions and answers in the back and a Further Ado section containing even more rigorous material for you to include at your discretion. Possibly because this volume was originally written for college students, the material is edgier in this first book (Fred’s dad drinks, his family is somewhat dysfunctional, and there are other allusions to drugs, alcohol and “hanky panky”). You may wish to skim ahead of your student and “edit” anything unsatisfactory.”

this link from the rainbow resource page is a sample of the calculus book and it has a couple of pages revealing fred’s birth and featuring his mother and father. not a full explanation of his origins but a little hint that was fun to read 🙂

I checked out the calculus book on interstate library lone though our local library (this is a new option here now) and I know what happened to Fred’s parents…
His dad was a looser.. drunk all the time. His mother didn’t know anything except how to make cookies. Anyway Fred (at 3 months old) was watching tv on the stock market and make a lot of money on a penny stock. With this money his dad bought a new sky scraper. Then his dad moved them there and then had a diving board at the top of the sky scraper for the pool. Freds mom fell off the diving board and missed the pool and mostly likely, his dad was charged for the murderer…
Then Fred because a math professor.
This was the condensed version but I just wanted to answer my own question for anyone who wanted to know.
