My 12 year old is half way through MUS DELTA and I am wondering what next. We only read the first elementary book, but ds loves Fred! So, I am wondering if I should go with LOF fractions next year or stick with MUS. How effective is LOF for children who have a tendency to struggle with new math concepts from time to time? Is there sufficient practice problems built into the program? I didn’t find there were with what I saw and what I’ve read about the elementary series.
My 8 year old tend to pick up math concepts easily and is just starting DELTA. It would be nice if I can reuse the next program as well. It’s so much easier on the pocketbook. He loves Fred, too. The story format really holds his interest, and that’s important with his ADHD.
We have LOF Decimals/Percents and Fractions. When I bought them, I was under the impression that those particular books are meant as supplements, but the older books are stand alones. I don’t think there’s enough practice to be a stand alone curriculum at those levels…but hopefully others who have used them more will chime in. I just bought them for extra ‘fun’ pratice when dd completed MUS, but we never got much in.
I can’t picture doing just LOF, but we’re MUS and it just seems to work well for us. We do have the first 10 elementary Fred books and one of these days there will be time to read them all, right? LOL.
