Many times the libary has copies of books that have been revised and rebublished,  but they are by the same author.  When you are checking books out do you try to get the oldest one or the revised?  Normally I am doing it by computer so I am not actually standing there to thumb through the book I just reserve it and pick it up.

If it’s a science book I typically go for the revised book.  Science changes a lot, very quickly.  For history I usually go with the older book.  Historical facts don’t change, but opinions and political commentaries do.

But if it is a normal read aloud you don’t concern yourself with the date right?

Correct.  For literature or read-alouds I just get whatever copy I can get.  Sometimes the newer releases have added pictures in the book, or on the cover, that may not be good quality.  Like some Nancy Drew and Hardy Boy books have been re-released with updated, “modern” pictures and situations.
