I stopped at the libraray book sale and got some books. But I am not sure of a lot of them. But for the price I thought the worse thing I put them on paperback swap and get rid of them. Can you either 1) let me know of a site I could look at feedback from others on the books or 2) leave your comments here. Thanks

I am wondering not only for my reading but for my Jr high boys with the advanture ones just so you know. This is just a little bit of my find but I don’t know about them.
The biblical ones I want to be sure they (if you’ve read them) are true to all christian faiths or if they are toward one demonination or another. Does that make since.
Hmm. I would not recommend Beth Moore for Jr. High boys. They are definitely written with the assumption that the readeris a woman. Beth in her “Breaking Free” book talks quite openly about her abusive past. I have not read Jesus the One and Only in years, but I worked on editing it. All of her books are very sound biblically and well-done. I highly recommend them for you, just not for your sons.
I am not sure I am the best one to answer your denomination quesiton b/c I am of the same one as her and worked at their large publishing company, however, I do think they are written about living a life sold out to Jesus not denominational beliefs. I don’t recall anything that one might find unpleasant in that regard, but than again, like I said I might not be the best to answer. She does talk about church, but only from the standpoint of personal experiences in areas of service and the like (like she taught Sunday school for years and she’ll sometimes tell a funny story about how the lesson didn’t go as she thought it would or something like that).
I don’t know about the others but I’m in a bit of the same boat. I went to our Homeschool Expo today and felt like I hit a gold mine at 3 of the booths–just used books, many hard back and many of the living variety. How in the world will I pre-read so many??? I did feel like the sellers were honest with me when they had knowledge of the author or series. There were a couple i put back based on the seller’s thoughts and my questions about the content. I appreciated her honesty.
I agree Amazon can be a great place to get a feel as you’ll find opinions of all types, but more importantly, people will say “homeschool Mom” or something that will help me to know where they are coming from. And more often than not, if anything objectionable is in there, you’ll get that with just reading a few reviews.
