    Is letter writing studied in Using Language Well? Also, is there a date on when Books 4 and 5 will be finished?

    Letter writing is not studied in Using Language Well.

    We do not have a date when books 4 and 5 will be finished. However, book 4 is in the early stages of writing.

    Thanks! What is recommended for grammar and writing after Book 3 is completed.

    After Book 3, you can choose occasional sentences from the dictation exercises to have your student parse to keep the grammar skills sharp.

    Currently, our recommendation for writing after ULW Book 3 is Analytical Grammar’s Beyond the Book Report #3. I also recommend that you read Karen Glass’ book Know and Tell: The Art of Narration. Karen not only explains narration thoroughly but gives tips on how to polish written narrations into formal essays.

    Primary Language Lessons by Emma Serl covers letter writing, and it’s in the public domain so you can find it free online. 🙂
