Hey everybody! I haven’t been around much lately as I have been knee deep in planning and scheduling for our new school year. We start the first week of August. Just thought I’d drop in and say hey to everyone! So how is the planning going for you all? When are you starting school?
Hi, Mrs. K, how’s your summer been? I haven’t collected all my little chicks back home from our scattered summer yet, they should all be back next week. We are thinking of starting the second or third week of August. I’m pretty much all planned, several small details to nail down and get yet.
Well, we did one month of the “new” school year in May, then God prompted us to take June-August to focus on the 4 R’s (Religion, Reading, wRiting, and aRithmetic). It turns out God knew I would have major morning/all day sickness for June and July with pregnancy 7, and it looks like it may last through August.
So we’ll pick back up with the year’s regular studies the end of August or beginning of September. We are doing Module 4 this year. 🙂 The kiddos are 10, 6, 5, 3, 2, and 8 mos and Middle Ages to Reformation should be a lot of fun with them. We left off in Vikings at the end of May.
Hey, we are just about ready also, as I type I have a map of Asia here to put in clear folders! We also start in 2 or 3rd week in August. We did some religion, reading, writing and arithmetic also during the summer but that’s about it.
We started last Monday. It is going well so far. My 8yo is soaking it all up. Amazing how much he has matured in the few months we took off for the move. My 5yo on the other hand is still not interested.

Bookworm, Our summer has been pretty good! As you know, I have been planning for a bit, getting everything together and scheduled out. But I enjoy the planning part. 🙂 We are starting full swing in our new school year the first week of August. I’ve planned out a year round school schedule which should leave us ample room to tweak if need be. I am also pretty much done with the planning part. Now I just have to enter everything into the computer for our daily/weekly schedules. And I’m still reading books in preparation for our new school year. 🙂
Tristan, Morning sickness is no fun! I will say a prayer for you! We will also be studying the Middle Ages in history this year.
Iamasahm, We did some school over the summer too. We officially begin full force in our new school year the first week of August.
thehauserfamily, Glad to hear school is going well for you all so far. Isn’t it awesome when a child just soaks up the learning? Our 3 year old is like a sponge right now. She wants to learn. She wants to spell words. When my older daughter labels our wall map, our 3 yr. old will stand next to her and my daughter will tell her the states as she’s labeling them. Just from that, our 3 yr. old can tell you where several of the states are on the map already! She simply amazes me! My older daughter (going into 9th grade) is not so enthusiastic about her school work though. 🙂
Hi, glad things are going well for you and that your plans are complete. We are starting at the start of September, though we have done math, science and German through the summer months. It is so hot here that we cannot be outside, 114 heat index yesterday and 115 expected tomorrow, have to stay indoors. Looking forward to our last year and then making decisions for the future. Hope the rest of your summer is excellent and that you have a great year. Linda
