    LWC is a group of homeschooling parents who meet throughout the year to discuss Charlotte Mason’s philosophy and methods of education and the idea that “education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life.” We recognize that children are whole persons and we seek to guide the development of their entire nature – physical, mental, moral and spiritual.

    Parents interested in learning more about Charlotte Mason’s philosophy and methods are welcome to join a CM Book Study group that will be meeting in host homes on Sunday afternoons, beginning September 6, 2015. Meetings will be held from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm.

    We will be studying Volume 6, Towards a Philosophy of Education. You can choose to read either the original version of Charlotte’s book or the modern paraphrase. It is preferable to read the original version and look at the modern if one gets stuck on the Victorian English!  Here are links to both versions, which are free on the internet. You can also download the Kindle version.

    I lived in Monticello, FL and happily drove over to Jacksonville and then back for this book club.  I got to know all the exits along I-10 and who closed early and where the best coffee stop was located!  It was well worth it.

    I only had a chance to do one book this way, but I kept it up on my own (still d0).  Getting to know Charlotte Mason through her original works early on in my homeschooling really solidified my allegiance to her philosophy and methods.  I’ve never flip flopped and gone off to another philosophy.  This little gem and Sonya’s great introduction – well, I can’t say enough!

    If you’re close by, make the effort.  It’s fun to be adventurous! 😉

    Hi! It looks like this study group (or at least the web page) is closed now–does anyone know of another one in this area? I’m in Jacksonville, FL, now, and would love to get together with some other CM’ers–though we’re planning to move out of state in the next few months.

    I’m also wondering–are there any other moms in this area who are planning to drive up to the CMI conference in June (2018) and might want to carpool? How can we get in touch?
