MISSCEEGEE…. I went back and looked at your schedule and I noticed you will present the DVD’s in a different order.  May I ask why or how you came about this?

Also, will you present the DVD during that 6:30 – 7:30 time and then have discussion in the 7:30 – 9:00 time?

I’m just trying to wrap my brain around it and get a visual of what it will all look like.  I’m assuming since you hosted the original seminar, you have a vision Smile

    Thanks,

    Melissa

Curious, too.  I may consider hosting these throughout the year.

I’ll post later my thoughts as I’m between sessions at the Charloote Mason Institute conference at the moment.

missceegee -Oh!  I wish I was at that conference!  Maybe it is a dream that will come true some day!

We would love to hear any golden nugget take-aways that you got fromt this conference, whenever you have time, of course.

You have inspired me to host a monthly CM group with the Learning and Living DVD set in my area – starting in two weeks!

If I can do this anyone can!

Melissa – I was simply thinking of habits first as I wasn’t sure we’d get through all of them. However, when I saw the Leader’s Guide, I decided to simply go with it as SCM scheduled it instead of blazing my own trail.

The CMI is fabulous. The talk today on technology and mediated and symbolic experiences in lieu of real experiences was sad, fascinating, and enlightening. This conference is DEEP. It is so rich in the philosophy of Charlotte and how that philosophy should undergird all that we as CM educators do. This is my 2nd year attending the CMI and I hope to continue to go. I’m pretty much a CM purist, but I leave here each time understanding more deeply that CM is a paradigm shift and that if I wish to have the results that Charlotte enjoyed, then I must hang the whole philosophy together and not take bits and pieces from different philosophies. I’m still processing it all and will try to share more later.

Robin – I so missed seeing you this year and hope we both connect next year!

Just finished the first DVD….wow, so much in there.  Have to take some time to ponder the ideas before starting #2!

I watched the high school DVD (disc #12)and Teaching Reading from the Early Years last night. Wow. Charlotte Mason’s methods in high school are quite rigorous. I especially loved the section where Sonya explained a variety of narration styles. The Teaching Reading lesson is, well, turning something in me. I have loved intensive phonics (Spell to Write and Read), but I am convinced that the basic phonics method used by Charlotte Mason and Sonya is what my little ones need right now. The more I homeschool, the more I want to stick to CM methods as is. Thank you for your work, SCM Team.
