I’m really considering ordering this book today.  However, I find I order so many books thinking that they’re going to be one thing and then getting them and realizing they are not really what I wanted at all.  So, for those of you who have read this, tell me a little about it.  Does it give specific suggestions on how to implement the various habits?  Is it geared toward habit building for any age, including adults?

Each habit has a short anecdote as well as tips to encourage the habit in your children. There are numerous quotes by Charlotte Mason and explanations by Sonya Schafer.  A lot of it focuses on what you as the parent need to do to encourage that habit and questions to ask yourself to be sure you are staying on track.  It does have a checklist in the back of the book for you to list each child AND yourself.  The parts that are only for the parent are blacked out on the chart for the child.  It does not have a step-by-step, do-this-to-get-this-result.  It is not a book of formulas to get perfect behavior!!  I think the most difficult part is choosing which habit to work on and sticking with it.  I had a different perspective when I first read through the book and felt defeated.  Maybe I was expecting immediate results and I was not consistent.  I do think it is helpful.  The key is to be consistent.  Isn’t that the key with everything???

You’ve encouraged me to go get it off my shelf and delve back into the formation of GOOD habits! Thanks!
