One of the best investments I have made.  It is a great great resource.  Do you have specific ?’s.

Thanks Amy. Not really any specifics. I’ve read on the site what it entails, but if you would tell me why it’s one of the best investments you’ve made-I’d love to hear about it:)

Also one of my most favorite purchases. Ever.

It goes very in-depth with all the different habits CM believed were important. It gives specific CM quotes about these habits in a way that proves (to me) why each habit is really something you want to teach your children. There is a checklist in the back so that you can easily see which habits you’ve mastered and which ones need more work. It has even caused me to see areas in my own life that need habitual attention.

I’d buy it again in a heartbeat!

    Blessings,

all that Lindsey said.  Also, sometimes it can just seem so overwhelming – all that needs to be done.  Having it written with thoughts and perspectives on each has helped me to prioritize and get a grasp on what to teach when.  I did not get the seminar – just the ebook.

    Hope that helps

You know, habit is probably the most important thing I did with my children. Luckily, I found Charlotte when my eldest was a toddler. (1992) So I was fortunate enough to start training myself and my children with habits and virtues from a young age. I suspect it is the biggest factor in our success as homeschoolers. (They’re now 21, 16 & 12.) Our entire home is one where people are kind, considerate, responsible, and diligent. Not perfect people (!!) LOL, but definitely striving people. Because we have a standard for behavior – an accepted model of virtue and good habit – we have a barometer for all of life. When that barometer is absent, then authority becomes authoritarianism or dictatorship. When that barometer is there – when Mother holds herself to God’s standard and therefore must train the children in God’s way – then the authority is a loving and good one.

I can’t speak for this particular resource, but I have read the SCM free books on habit, and I think Sonya has captured Charlotte’s teachings very well, and probably has made them a bit more user friendly for the modern American Evangelical Christian than the original materials would have been.

I also purchased the book and would agree with the other assessments that it is one of the best purchases.  The CM support group that I started used this as a resource for topic discussions on more than one occasion.  it is challenging to the parents/ mother as well as simply giving clear definitions of the habits.

I like that it has the habits broken down into catagories for easy reference as well as a “Repairing the Rails” section for those of us who didn’t start out wholeheartedly with CM’s ideas (and then wished with all their heart they had) OR if a habit slips and the parents/mother was not quick enough to realize it before repair work was needed.  The book has practical suggestions in it, quotes in context, and dialog illustrations for the various habits.

This is such a blessing to me that I like to give this to new parents and plan on giving my own children a copy if they are blessed with children. (Note: I have 5 kiddos of which my eldest is nearly 21 and youngest is 10, so this possibility is not that far off.)

Thanks so much ladies!! I’m adding it to my list of things to purchaseSmile

I love it.  Really you could get all this by reading and going through every volume of Charlotte’s books, but Sonya did all that work already.  she separates them into habits and gives explanations for each chapter.  Oh and the lists at the back are wonderful.

One thing I really love about this is that it focuses on good and bad habits.  Most parenting books just tell you what and how to get rid of bad habits but this one focuses a lot on good habits. I realy love that.

I do have the DVD and book.  If I could only pick one to have it would be the book.
