We used Latin for Children when younger and then went into Latin Alive for my upper middleschooler. I had no Latin experience but was able to understand and learn along side of him. The DVDs were very helpful along with the free website they offer for practice is: headventureland.com which has many games and translation exercises for free. I know it is a tough choice but I would say you can’t go wrong with Classical Academic Press or Memoria Press. Good luck!

Is there a latin program that takes NO parental preparation or involvement? With a bunch of littles to homeschool as well, I need something I can just hand off to my 11 and 13 yr olds. We started this year with Getting Started with Latin and my daughter just mentioned she wishes they reviewed more. I’m thinking we may need to tweak what we use next year.

I would think you should be able to use Latin Alive and Latin for Children by themselves. It depends how much you are trying to have them retain and how far you want them to go. With languages you really need to have someone help you through on occasion. I think they can learn quite a bit on their own but to be totally hands off might be a bit tricky. For my kids they watched the videos worked through exercises and asked questions if they had any. But mostly did on their own, I did have to give them tests and grade their homework. HTH
