Does anyone know what age is this book appropriate for?  I have a 10, 8, and 5 year old and was thinking of reading it aloud.  I’ve only watched the movie.

    Thanks,

Um.  I think this book would be enjoyed by anyone over 200 years old.  The chances of your age children enjoying it?  Approximately zero.

My oldest son read this as a free read when he was about 16 or 17 and enjoyed it. He read the whole series. 3 books? or maybe it’s 4. I can’t remember at this point.

I tried to read it and couldn’t.  (not aloud – I thought I’d read it for my “hard” reading book.)

Agreeing.  Ds and I tried to read this a couple of years ago.  Blech.  We got about half way through and decided our efforts would be better spent on another title.

He was about 15 at the time.  I was not quite 200 years old.

I read it a few years back.  It wasn’t the most enjoyable book, but I finished it.  I don’t think I’d assign it or read it aloud until high school ages.

Something like My Side of the Mountain or Sign of the Beaver would be much more enjoyable to younger ages.
