Okay, I was planning on having this last week to finish school, but then the kids’ dad decided to take them camping until Thursday afternoon…..and I KNOW that they will not want to “do school” next week. We always do some fun things while the brick-n-mortar kids have their last few days in school. So, Friday kind of needs to be our official last day of school. (We do have a couple of little things and two books to finish, but I need a break, too!)
I’m looking for some fun ideas to celebrate our last day of school, after we finish a couple of chapters, but it’s supposed to rain here on Friday. I’m trying to think of a good movie we could watch, hopefully something that takes place between 1850-1920, since that’s what our history focus was this year.
Even if the book and movie don’t line up overly well, you can have a great time picking the movie apart and talking about what you would have done differently if you’d been the director.
No ideas – but we LOVED the movie Seargegnt York – and Adventures in Odessey just did an episode (4 parts) on him and Rascal we listened to Jim Weiss read it and the kids LOVED it. (caution – Chapter 6 contains the “d” word – wasn’t ready for that one! 🙂 ) I was going to get the movie for the kids to watch, but we haven’t watched it as of yet.
Oooh, a cake! That sounds fun….and tasty! Or maybe cupcakes, so they can each frost and decorate some.
Wow, you guys must all be party animals, what with the quick and numerous responses I’ve gotten, LOL. The movie Friendly Persuasion sounds good, and our local library has it.
