I have a Brother2280 printer that is fantastic. It is older, have had since 2014, but I wonder if a newer one would be just as good. The Brother2395 looks pretty similar to what I currently use and looks to have good reviews.
My Brother printer prints quickly, double sided, but only in black in white. This has not been a problem for us and it uses after market toner that is less expensive and it lasts quite a long time for us.
It copies and also scans, but scans in color, so that if I really need a color copy of something I can scan the document and then email it to DH to print for me, LOL.
We have been happy with the Brother multifunction laser printer too. Yes, no color. For the cost savings, we live with it. I do sometimes use color paper or color cardstock though. I buy the $50 high capacity Brother toner and it lasts us close to a year.
I have a Brother also. We’ve had it for at least five years and it’s working great. When I bought it, I decided not to pay the extra $100 to buy the color version. Sometimes I regret that, but recently I picked up a cheap color printer at WalMart for about $30 and just use that when I need color — it’s not very often.
We do buy the generic ink cartridges for it. Sometimes we have issues with those. For example, we’ll get an error message that the toner is low and the printer won’t respond even though it’s printing beautifully. There are ways to override it and keep it working for longer.
We also have a Brother laser printer that I’m happy with. I have never tried the generic ink, though. Since each cartridge does over 2000 pages, I don’t worry about spending 50 on the name-brand. That lasts us over a year.
