I have a funny language error to share. My error. This is a rather embarrassing error on Dd14’s volunteer application to be a teen auxiliary at a local hospital this summer. The error was discovered after we faxed it, but I’m hopeful that the error report we got means the fax did not go through. I debated leaving it alone or correcting it. We opted for a correction and added a statement to the cover letter clarifying the error and resent. So if the application reviewer would have missed it, he or she won’t now!
The error – “My mom told me about being a candy stripper as a teen and that piqued my interest so we began looking for similar opportunities in Jacksonville.”
Yeah. My kids called me a stripper all through dinner. My husband who is terrible with spelling caught the error and said, “and you’re their teacher.” My dear friend, whose son I’m teaching grammar and poetry to this term, almost fell over at church when I told her.
I was typing it for her and I even said, “Let’s be sure to put striper and not stripper.”
I will not live this one down anytime soon!
