I went to a homeschool expo today and saw the Lamplighter booth with their beautiful looking books and was wondering if they are as impressive on the inside as they are on the outside. Are they Godly, good character based books? Are they living books? Any favorites, especially for very young girls? Oh, yeah, and can you find them cheaper from other sources? Thank you for any input!
YES! I love Lamplighter books and have quite a collection. They are all fabulous. Personally my favorites are by A.L.O.E. – Ishmael, Self-Raised, The Hidden Hand, but these aren’t for small children.
All Lamplighter books are full of Godly wisdom and character and are most definitely living books!
Some more favorites:
The Hedge of Thorns (both the original and picture book versions)
Teddy’s Button (both the original and picture book versions)
The Beggar’s Blessing
Fire in the Sky
Jessica’s First Prayer
Probable Sons
Saved By Love
Nobody Loves Me
The Giant Killer
The Basket of Flowers
Boys of Grit series
The White Dove
You really can’t go wrong with Lamplighter books, IMHO. I always buy 5
I second Christie’s statements. On the website you can access the book listings by gender and age which is very helpful, adding in Sir Malcolm and the Missing Prince.
Christianbbok has started selling them now at a lower cost, I think. I bought several together as part of a starter set deal.
I also recommend the radio dramas they’ve started recently.
