If you use a Kindle to post on the board, how are you able to do it?  Do I need to download something?  I have a Fire if that makes any difference.  Thanks

Whenever I use my daughter’s Kindle Fire, I just use the web browser (she has Google Chrome, but it doesn’t matter which one you use, I don’t think), and I go to the website & the discussion forum just as on my pc. But you have to login once you’re there in order to post.

When you are on the main home screen of your Kindle, look where it says Store, Apps, Books, etc (at the top) and scroll across to Web. Click on that, then type in the SCM address, login to your SCM acct so you can post, and you are good to go!

I also can’t post on this forum from the kindle fire. I can log on and do everything else from the fire, like download free ebooks, read and send Pam’s, etc…. I was thinking its just a glitch with the kindle fire, since this forum is the only thing I had trouble with. My resolution was to post from the PC or ipad instead, but I’m interesting in why op and I have trouble and others don’t.

The Pm’s were self corrected above, sorry.

Any idea what the problem is? If you’re logged in, does the interface look different (e.g., you have a text box for your reply at the end of a post)? Or are you getting an error message when you try, or what?

Everything looks the same, I log on and the reply box comes up to post, the cursor appears in the reply box or new topic box. The keyboard will come up to select a name for the new post, but the keyboard will not appear for the cursor that shows up to type the post on either a reply or new post. I just compared the boxes on the KF with the ipad, and on the KF there are options below where it says ” post” and above the box to type the post in to choose a bold font, italics, bullet point format, centering, and such (an option bar in similar looks to what word pad would have when typing up a document). This option line doesn’t show up on the ipad I am typing on now.

The problem hasn’t bothered me because I don’t post much and what I want to post can always wait till I am at my PC or ipad. I don’t like typing on the kindle much anyway because the keyboard is so small. But since op mentioned the topic, I am curious if there is a solution for us.

Everything looks the same for me as well.  I have the exact same problem as kikim2, I am able to do everything except type into the reply box.

I’m thinking that there is a difference between Kindle models, software versions, or the browser installed.

I’d like to ask a favor from those of you who cannot post from your Kindle. Please visit this support details link, fill in your name and e-mail address, then click the Send Details button. That will automatically gather some information about your device and send it to me so I can use it to help figure out what is happening. Thanks.

Okay, I’ve received a couple reports now. It seems that some Kindle models identify themselves incorrectly and that causes the problem. I think I’ve found a way to detect that they are actual Kindle devices and work around the posting problem, though.

Please try it and let me know if works. Thanks.

This is me posting from the kindle fire! Doug, the glitch is fixed. My screen directly above the post box no longer has the bar line like I described on my prior post. Now to wait and see if Des is now able to post from her Kindle.

I’m glad to hear it’s working. Thanks for your help, everyone!

For now, we have to switch to a simpler editor for the Kindle and some other devices. You won’t see the full editor, but at least you can post.

I’m trying to download the free ebooks to our kindle and have been unsuccessful. I purchased them for free from the SCM book store, and opened the email with the downloadable links in the web browser. When click on the the link it says starting download, then nothing happens and I can’t find it anywhere. Is there a different way I should be doing this? Help please : )
