I recently found out that I could link my husband’s American Express rewards with Amazon…which means I can get a Kindle!!! I am so excited. I’m ready to order it, but now I need to pick out accessories. So hard reading reviews. I found this one that folds back and makes into a stand. Looks neat, but I don’t know if it’s something I would use. Thoughts? And what’s your favorite light for it?

You are going to love your Kindle, I have a cover with light attached and that works well when we drive at night – I just wanted to say that depending on what you plan on doing with it – I find just a protective cover is great. i sometimes read in bed and I can lay back, hold it one hand as it is not so heavy and turn the pages easily. I love it, and so unless you really need a stand, I think maybe you could get along with just a cover. I can’t advise about lights, as mine is in the cover – but it is useful to have. It is the easiest thing to hold and so nice not to have to hold pages open etc – have fun with yours – I know you will. Linda

I just have a regular cover (the “official” one from Amazon). In the year since I’ve had it, I haven’t felt like I’ve ever needed anything else and it has survived a few “drops” thus far. I like that it locks my Kindle in place – it literally cannot fall out of the case unless I pull a little lever on the side.
I did get a really cool “skin“, which is basically a big sticker you put on the front and the back to keep it from getting dirty or scratched. And I have a screen protector. I bought mine at the same place I got my skin and it works SO much better than the one I bought on Amazon.
I try not to read in bed because I already have sleeping issues, but I hadn’t thought about reading in the car. Linda – which cover did you get with the light?

I got the official one from Amazon too (there weren’t many options at first anyway) – and have the leather one with the light built in. I love the light. I don’t use it all the time, but when I do, it is great!
