So what do you do with your kid’s school papers at the end of the year?  I don’t have a lot this year, but I know down the road there will be more if we are doing some lapbooking (which is what is suggested for our French curriculum).  There is also art, and narration drawings.  We don’t have the space, nor do I want to save everything.  I’m just not sure how to decide what to keep.  All their work from this past year fits in a folder, but like I said…there will be more next year.
Thanks for putting up with all my questions…feels like I’ve asked so many lately!

I keep a sample of their best work from the beginning, middle and end of the year for each subject in a three ring binder.  Not fancy, but it is working so far.

I also keep some of their best work, put it in a labeled folder with their name and age, and file it on the shelf. Not a fancy system either, but I don’t feel it necessary to keep everything either. I’m not sentimental by nature, so it’s not difficult for me to throw things away.

Mostly I save copywork, a few science projects, some art, and a few math papers. I want them to have some way of seeing what they did as young children when they’re older.

    Hope that helps,

    Lindsey

If you have a scanner, you could scan their papers into a digital portfolio/folder on your computer and get rid of the bulky papers.

Though we don’t have a scanner, I was going to suggest what Sonya mentioned – keeping a digital portfolio. I keep a few of our favorites each quarter and others take photos of – especially in the younger years when those science projects or works of art are rather awkward, bulky or difficult to store.

At the moment (as we are in the early years and there isn’t much), I have a binder for the year, and have kept everything.

However, I do plan to go through in a couple of years and pick representative pieces from each subject from various times of they year to keep longer.
