Hello ladies,
My family just moved to Kentucky, near Georgetown/Lexington area from Florida. Are there any CM families in this area? I would love some guidance on Christian homeschool groups, co-ops, 4H, boy scouts, piano teachers, horse riding lessons, and how to homeschool in KY. If there is anyone here who could help me out, I’d apprecite it!
I have a 13 yo daughter, an 11 yo son, and an 8 yo daughter. My 13yo will be starting high school, so any KY tips for that level would be great. Does KY have a dual-enrollment program? In FL, high school juniors and seniors could be dual-enrolled in a junior college. In FL, class tuition was free, but you paid for the books.
Thanks in advance for any assitance. I’m praying that this transition will be as smooth as possible for my kids. It’s the first move they can remember, so it’s extra challenging and they are missing home and friends. I’d like to get plugged in here as quickly as possible.

Hi Mrs. Monty, I am a CMer near Lexington in Lancaster, KY. We’re about an hour S of you. My children are a little younger than yours – son 9, son 7, daughter 5. We moved here back in March from the Dominican Republic and Haiti (we are Americans), so this is my first school year here too. I’ve been asking around at church, though, and there are homeschool groups here.
I also just noticed on the KY Board of Education site that they offer virtual highschool. I wonder if that my be something that interests you. Have you found a good church here yet? That has been the quickest and best way we have found so far to make friends fast. We move a lot. 🙂
Hope all is well with you and your family and that everyone is adjusting to the move alright. May I ask what brings your family to KY?

Hi Natasha,
We are starting to settle in. Making friends has been slow going since it’s summer. I hope there will be some field trips and activities soon with the nearby homeschool groups.
We will start looking for a new church home this weekend, so hopefully we’ll make some friends and HOPEFULLY homeschooling friends there.
A change of career brought us to KY! God opened a door for us here, so here we are! 🙂
I hope that you’re enjoying being back in the states!

I am from Morehead, about an hour east of Lexington. I’d love to find more CM’ers around! Sorry I don’t have any answers for you as my kids are early elementary. Good luck!

WELCOME! We are neighbors : ) We have always lived in Lexington, however we just moved to Georgetown of 64. My boys are 9 and 11. This is our second full time year home schooling. There are lots of yahoo groups for the area as well as play groups and filed trips. Please PM me so we can all meet.

My family also just moved to Lexington, KY (from Idaho). We have 4 daughters (ages 6,4, 2, and 10 months), and we’re beginning our second year of CM-style homeschooling. Is there a group of CM-ers in the area? We’d love to meet up with other families!
