Hey just saw this and wanted to pass it along for those of you who might enjoy a nature study that will help scientist track birds.  Read about it here :

We are participating this year.  It is very simple to do – just watch your bird feeder for a bit and make a note of the most birds you see at any one time of any specied you can identify.  For instance, cardinals would be an easy one to start with – almost all kids can tell a cardinal at a glance.  Then later, log your number and location at the GBBC site.

If you want to get more ambitious you can, but that is an easy way to participate in a wonderful cooperative scientific undertaking!  Fun and great citizenship as well as science.

Here is a link to the official site  http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/.  Spend 15 minutes counting birds today – you will be glad you did.

BTW today – Monday 2-12-11 is the last day so there is still time!!!!

With the weather in IL we had hardly a bird in our yard this year so we didn’t count. I think we had ONE robin and ONE junco over the weekend. Last year with snow our feeders were FILLED each day of the bird count.
