Is there something like the J.M. Cremp’s catalog for girls? My ds LOVES to spend hours pouring over his catalogs, but dd doesn’t have anything like that.

    Thanks!

These are the catalogs my dd (knitting, goat milking, angora rabbit raising, gardening girl of almost 16) has confiscated out of the mail pile: Halcyon Yarn, Knit Picks, Hoegger Supply Company, seed catalogs (Good Seeds, Territorial Seed company, Seeds of change…). I should probably start putting her name on all of MY catalogs…:-) she is the one milking the goats, making cheese, and knitting.

How old is she and what does she like to do?

She’s 8.5, and she doesn’t have many things that she “likes” to do. She enjoys cooking, but not by herself, only with me. She plays with stuffed animals. She actually doesn’t enjoy doing anything by herself. So whatever her brother is doing is what she does. If he’s playing Legos, so is she. She plays piano on her own and will read alone, but that’s about it. Finding something that does interest her is what we are trying to do. She gets her feelings hurt every time her brother wants to play alone. I have to referee for him beside I know that he has that need (I do too). But I also have to make him play with her too. I’m not sure how she never learned to entertain herself, but he does it so well. So looking at a J.M. Cremp’s catalog is something he enjoys immensely because he would also love to do/have everything in it. If we could find something for her to look at, it might generate some interest.

Lindsey my second son is this way.  He is the only extravert in the house. I am convinced that with extroverts it is a skill that must be developed- being alone.  I have seen that Brady will play alone if he is in the room with me while I am doing other things.  But to put him in a room alone it the worst thing ever in his eyes.  Music seems to help some.  But, like your daughter he does not have many interest that are his alone.  Though he is getting a guitar for his bday so I hope this will help.  sorry i don’t have any suggestions.  Of course I know nothing about girls :):)
