ISBN problem

    Doug ~ When I enter an ISBN number and try to add it to my schedule, it give me an error message of the ISBN being too long.  It has already successfully found the title, so I’m not sure why it says it’s too long.  I’ve been just deleting the ISBN and then saving the resource.  I don’t know if this will cause problems later, so I wanted to bring this to your attention.

    I’m sure this isn’t the case, but are you adding the dashes?

    No, I don’t think the dashes are a problem.  I can enter an ISBN with or without dashes and get a result.  Go to amazon and see if you can find a book – any book would do just for a test – that has both the short and long ISBN and try entering each.  Maybe the short one would work for you.

    I know the update that SCM just did was supposed to correct errors with the long ISBN so I don’t know why this would still be happening.

    Thanks, Gem.  I did go to Amazon to get an ISBN for a book and it worked.  Not sure why I’m picking some with long numbers.  Anyway, if it needs fixing and it’s not a user-error problem, Doug, could you look at it?

    It should work with or without dashes. Please give me a sample ISBN that has been a problem for you so I can test it. Thanks.

    Thanks Cindie. I was able to duplicate the problem and we’re working on a fix.

    When I enter them with dashes, the computer tells me it is too long.  If I leave them out, it works just fine. *shrug*

    ISBN numbers can have various numbers of dashes. It looks like we simply missed one of the cases that should work. We’ll get that fixed.
