  •  I was wondering if someone could help me know the difference between unit study and CM and give me solid examples of how CM would be different than the example below IF it is different than CM.  This would help me a GREAT deal  so I don’t get sidetracked!I need something to wrap my head around and get a solid grip on it visually in my head.

    Thanks so much

the Unit studies aren’t “strict” unit studies. We organize our studies by chronological history units, and we study art/artists/music, science etc. as those things as they fit the time periods. For example, during the Ancients unit, we study the desert and science of the Ancient Greeks, etc. During the Middle Ages, we study herb gardens (used for medicines then) and birds of prey (because of falconry). During the Civil War unit, we study farms and farming, because most of the soldiers were farmers.

I like Sonya’s reply to this thread: http://simplycharlottemason.com/scmforum/topic/unit-studies#post-7249.  I think it explains the major differences between unit studies and CM methods very neatly and concisely.
