Is this narration?

After I take my ds4 to story time at the library we’ll get home and I’ll ask him to tell Daddy what the books were about. He’ll then recount each of the 3 stories mostly in his own words with some quotes from the books themselves. He gets the story and order right and tells them in (sometimes excruciating) detail.

Is this the beginnings of narration? I realize I shouldn’t be doing formal narration and such when he’s so young but letting him retell books he’s heard is fine I suppose. I’m just curious if this is a good beginning to what will develop into narration.
