I think so. This set was printed in many editions and is lovely. I have volumes from many of the sets and definitely prefer the older ones but the newer ones (from the 70’s, white covers) are gems as well. I personally wouldn’t pay lots of money for the newer set, though. Sometimes you see them priced outrageously.
It’s more than I would pay but is not a crazy high price. I recently found a like new set at a library sale for $1 per volume. I bought it and sold the set for $50 which I felt was a good price. Considering the number of volumes in the set, $80 is not too much per book.
Is the My Book House set similar to the set called The Children’s Hour? The CH set I bought from the library book sale has 16 volumes and has a 1953 copyright date. At the time I thought I was purchasing MBH which was mentioned in one of Karen Andreola’s books.
It’s similar. MBH is a collection of stories on various themes in 12 volumes, I believe. My favorite set that she did was Picturesque Tales of Progress. So lovely and a well-written overview of history. These can be pricey as well so snatch it up if you see it at a good price. It was reprinted later in four volumes. It was originally published in, I think, ten volumes??
At a library book sale this past weekend, I found vol 6-8 & vol 10-12 of the 1971 MBH as well as 3 vol of A Picturesque Tale of Progress. I hunted all over their tables and floor for other volumes with no luck. But I was tickled with these finds PLUS a copy of The Chestry Oak!
