I don’t post here very often anymore either (and hey, whaddya know, my log-in still works! :P), but saw this and wanted to chime in because I am in the Charlotte area. There are tons of homeschoolers in general, and definitely CMers among them, but they tend to be in smaller, scattered groups so it can take awhile to find them in my experience. 🙂
You said you were about an hour away and I don’t know in which direction, but if it’s to the south by chance, I have been working towards getting a CM Study Group off the ground in Waxhaw (south of Charlotte near the SC border). We met a few times this spring. Unsure if we will continue to meet in the summer or not, but hopefully with regroup again in the fall. If that sounds like it would be a convenient location for you, I’d be happy to add you to my mailing list. Contact me at dan(underscore)snow(at)sil(dot)org if you would like more information.
There is also an active yahoo group for CMers in this area, which would be a good way to reach out and find others more local to you if my little group would be too far. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/CMeLEARN/info
There is an associated FB page too, which is less active, but another option if yahoo groups aren’t your thing: https://www.facebook.com/groups/CMeLearn/
While not specifically CM, this group is CM-friendly classical (and not at all like Classical COnversations) in Huntersville – I can vouch for them being a great group with a beautiful thing going: https://paideiafellowship.com/ I am actually speaking on narration/language arts in the early years at their conference in June. 🙂
HTH some!
