Wednesday – offer on a house declined, still homeless after this sixth try
Thursday – diagnosed with mastitis even though I haven’t breastfed in over 4 yrs
Friday – started homesitting/dogsitting gig, both dds had diarhhea and vomitting as does new puppy, got the carpet shampoo-er out of storage
Saturday – one week until our half-triathlon, which I haven’t trained for very well
Seriously, where is the Candid Camera crew? 🙂
Best upside? Only 5 years ago I would have been either seething mad about all of this or a puddle on the floor. Thanks to my faith in Jesus Christ, I am strengthened to endure all of this (and possibly more) with a grin.
Thanks for letting me vent a bit. Peace and blessings to each of you.
Your week sounded similar to mine! except you win the daily award! Something on the line of belt breaking and locking up water pump on my van, Up coming fair, trying to cram everything into the jeep. No it does not fit. Rewind, take everything back out. Find new cages, Reload. Still doesn’t fit. Rewind, pull chickens out. Reload. Still doesn’t fit. Rewind, Reload. Ahhhh… Finally! It fits… We all get in and I can’t drive the vehicle because I forgot it was a stick shift and there isn’t enough room to shift…. LOL…
Didn’t have a car dolly to pick up the van. Forgot my checkbook and a few other things in it. No checks to buy gas. ect…. 🙂 Get back and someone runs into the shop. 🙂 Crabby children. Oh, then we forgot dinner in the van! Now it is spoiled and we are hungry. Something else happened but I forgot about it already so my mind must have shut down after being so tired. It was ok G-d got us threw everything so I wasn’t nuts either. 🙂
Neighbor would have helped but both of their vehicles were down also…. 🙂 And I was suppose to be driving them to go get theirs.
I know it wasn’t quite the same as your week but it was a little crazy. It was a good thing we did break down. We would have lost our canoe off the top of the van because my dh said the tiedown wasn’t cinched good. apparently it was coming loose from the clamp. (older clamp & someone else helped tie it down) We were also going away this week and I am glad it broke down here instead of on the way to Ohio. 🙂
I know it was for a reason so I didn’t fret. Now I know what the reason is…..
About the Mastitis–You should try putting cabbage leaves on your breast…. It draws the milk out. It really works!!! I had it with my daughter. I couldn’t beleive how fast it worked too. I put it in my bra and within a few minutes it drew all the extra milk out. I was so releived. It hurt so bad I couldn’t even touch it. My skin was pulled so tight I thought it would let go on it’s own or burst! Luckily my sister-in-law had the same thing happen and told me about the cabbage. Boy was I ever thankful! So after you put some in your bra you can cook the rest for dinner… Tehe he…
You may want to borrow a metal detector and go over the area. If you know where it was lost. Even if there was someone else camping there. My cousin found a woman’s 5 carat diamond ring for her on the beach. They searched everywhere it took him half an hour to find it. Poor thing was a wreck because she was going to get married the following week. Of all places that beach! (Not to mention that is one large stone to loose!) It wasn’t where she thought she lost it either. They were looking in the wrong spot. Close but way off.
As for the house situation. I have a great testimonial. In our ladies Bible study one of the ladies had the same problem. We all listened and prayed. For weeks this went on. Many people in the church were praying. One day a lady silently came in to take a head count of our group. She overheard us in prayer and immediatly thought of someone else who had a home for sale. She called them to see if they still had it. They did. The lady went to look at it and it was just what they were looking for and in that price range….. 🙂 Their other problem was the house they were selling. They couldn’t sell that either. It had been on the market for about 3 years. Someone offered to buy the parcel next to it. They didn’t know whether they should sell it or not. Someone else in the church knew someone that was looking for a place to buy and couldn’t find one either. Within the same week! They just happened to hear that they were selling their house and stopped in to see if it was for sale. They Bought both the house and the parcel next to it. They were happy to buy them both. So you see your timing and G-d’s are totally different. HE was looking out for her best interest as he is yours. You will find a place just have more than one person pray for you. 🙂 There are power in numbers and he is setting up the perfect place for you it just isn’t ready. He just wants you to glorify him when it is…. 🙂
I sure hope this week is better for you than last! I try to remember to look for the good in every bad situation. He says he does all things for the good. There is a reason for all of this. Even if it is to appriciate what you have.
Turns out the mastitis was/is breast cancer. I start chemo on Wednesday. Do your self-exams, ladies…
So far so good. Asking for and receiving blessings every day. Taking it all in stride and keeping my goofy sense of humor. Saw a t-shirt online that says, “Yes, these are fake; my real ones tried to kill me”, but I don’t have the guts/gall to wear it! 🙂
Makes schooling quite the challenge though. We’re doing co-ops (Science/Art) when I never thought we would. I think my girls are liking them. It’s tough letting others “do” for me, but I gotta say, I’m not at all interested in “do”-ing. I want to sit, stay, and sleep. I want to pray and listen and look and absorb, not “do”.
Sure would appreciate any prayers you can spare specifically that I would be open and ready to receive the Lord’s healing grace and miraculous comfort. I seem to be quite ready to die, but not at all ready to freely and gladly accept His gift of continuing this earthly life with my incredible family. Odd, but that’s my dilemma right now.
Oh, plus my darling daughters think I’ll need extra large wings if I go to heaven, since I am “so chubby”. Thanks, girls! 🙂
Jenni, our prayers are coming your way too…that is a great t shirt….maybe you should wear it. Anyway, hang tough in the Lord and know lots of folk will be praying for you….if you need specific prayers for yourself or your family – just reach out and we will be warriors. Hugs, Linda
Jenni, I will pray for you. I love your sense of humor and this entire thread has really benefited me this night. Your original upside comment hit me between the eyes and I needed it. Blessings, Christie
Sorry to hear the news. 🙁 It does make a difference about the attitude you have though. I really had to laugh about the t-shirt thing! I was chuckling and my son said, ” what are you laughing about”? Oh, how to answer that one????? I will buy you that shirt if you will wear it!!!
Ok, now I have to say when my father passed away with cancer I was always trying to make my mom laugh right??? She was complaining no one would want her because one boob was several sizes larger than the other one.
One day I was in a thrift shop and came across a boob in a box. Just one of course. It was in a box on the bottom shelf behind a bunch of stuff. It was screaming “Open Me!!” there wasn’t any label or anything. I opened it and when I saw it I just laughed…
Now, my mom had revealed to me that it was all my fault that one of her boobs was way smaller then the other. Because of course I was nursed. (even though I have a younger sister.) So, I bought the boob. Wrapped it up and gave it to her. When she opened it she laughed. She said what do you want me to do with it? I said, “well, you can wear it and feel whole again or you can give it to someone who needs a laugh or a boob!”
Funny thing is she put it in right away looked in the mirror and she was whole again. She smiled turned in the mirror and put them out like they were in high school again. 🙂
She wore that boob out! She was even sad to see it go…. She asked me if I ever see another one in a thrift shop to pick it up.
Moral of the story- The new shirt could also read “What a Boob! ” or ” Now they are perky again” or ” I have more than I did in High School” or “Got Milk? NOT ME! ” Tehe he Oh, the list could go on! hey, maybe I should be a T-shirt designer Huh????
Anyway, I will be praying for you. What ever you do laugh about it. Everyone else will too!
My sister was diagnosed at 41 with breast cancer. Her hair, which had always been thin, fine, and straight as a board, came back curly (temporarily; it’s straight again). Anyway, her response when people asked if she’d had a perm was, “oh, yes, a VERY expensive one!”
Jenni, I am sorry you having to go through this. You have a positive outlook on life and that in itself will be a good healer…I could have used that a few months ago when I was so sick and feeling I was going to die. I was distraught and didin’t want to leave my family behind!! I know you don’t either..but you have such a good attitude when I DID NOT!
My dh step sister had a rare form of cancer ..it will be 2 yrs ago in Dec…she had to stay in a special cancer treatment center for months away from her family. It looked very bleak for her for a while. But she kept a good attitude and joked around….amazing to me…and I do believe that helped her get though it! The body is an amazing machine and will help heal itself with good attitudes and laughter. The old saying, Laughter is the best medicine is really true! However, you have to have a good attitude about it…I am not good at this when I am sick and feeling so very bad! What a blessing that YOU do! 🙂
And you have the faith that my dh step sister did not have. Although, I think it changed her to believe and lean more on God. I am still not sure if she accepted salvation during this time.
My thoughts are w/ you and your family! May God give you strength, quick healing and comfort!
I’ll be praying, Jenni. I wish we lived close enough that I could bring you meals and help with the kids and the housework. May the Lord bless and strengthen you.
